Can you name this tune? (Answer at the Botton of the page)

How does music relate to agriculture? – take a look!

Let’s fall in love
Like the birds and the bees,
Come to me, darling,
Stay with me please

Can’t we fall in love
And start it over again, over again.

Well, I do love you and I want you
How I need you for my own
Please say you want me,
And you need me,
For I, I love only you.you. you

I broke your heart
And made you cry
Please forgive me,
Don’t say goodbye.
Can’t we fall in love
And start it over again, over again.

Well, I do love you and I want you
How I need you for my own
Please say you want me
And you need me
For I, I love only you… you.you

I broke your heart, and made you cry
Please forgive me,
Don’t say goodbye
Can’t we fall in love
And start it over again… over again…
Let’s fall in love…

Think of this as a love song from Farm 5 to the PHF team. This farm broke our heart and made us us cry. Farm 5 wants us to forgive it and never say goodbye. Can’t we fall in love again and start it all over again?

This past year Farm 5 broke our hearts by not producing a crop of plantain due to river flooding and waterlogged soils and consequently no income. But PHF still loves it and will start all over again.

How to do it? First the viable plantain suckers will be dug and sold. Next the land will be leveled- there are lots of ‘hummocks’ that make tending to it tough. As part of the leveling, a slope will be made so that water doesn’t puddle during floods but runs off.  In the absence of a crop, the weeds took over and the excess water leached the nitrogen out of the soil.

Next, after all the soil preparation, I suggest that velvet bean be planted to smother the weeds and enrich the soil with lots of nitrogen and biomass.. Final step will be to come up with a plan of what to replant, now that they are saying goodbye to plantain.
