About Harvesting 4 Haiti

Harvesting 4 Haiti Foundation is a public non-profit 501(c)(3) established in September 2012. The primary goal of H4H is to empower the people of Haiti to begin self-sustainable projects in order to become economically independent and more prosperous.

4 Distinct Characteristics of H4H as a Non-Governmental Organization

1. H4H is dedicated to community-based organizations driven by those local people’s initiatives. H4H seeks to identify organizations and communities motivated to help the poverty stricken understand their potential and strive to become independent.

2. H4H works as a financial facilitator – not a program manager – with the goal of empowering local Haitian organizations to address the social and economic factors that affect their lives.

3. H4H recognizes that the success of a target project is due solely to the diligence and creative initiative of the local organization.

4. H4H is dedicated to good stewardship of all donations by maintaining very close communication with the recipient organizations and by engaging in strong due diligence measures, including: requiring a detailed budget, an itemized monthly accounting of all expenditures, annual trips to Haiti to see the projects, meeting with the Haitian Board, and visiting with the communities that are being directly affected by the project.

Harvesting 4 Haiti Foundation Board of Directors:

Kathy Radcliffe, President and Chair of Board of Directors

Kathy’s reasons for Involvement in H4H: “While on a 2008 mission trip in Haiti, I met Frantz Dorcel Ady (known as Ady), and Frantz Girodier, two bright young men in their final year of college.  Apart from the obvious poverty, the one thing that haunted me while spending time with these two young men, was the fact that they did not expect to find jobs when they graduated, even with their valuable undergraduate degrees ( Ady,  Environmental Studies and Frantz, Agronomy) that could help to improve the circumstances of their country.  I have watched Ady advance his education with one goal – to improve his country.  With Ady as an example, God instilled a desire in me to help Haitians find a way to help themselves. Thus, I began to form an organization with the objective being to create opportunities for Haitians to be self-sustaining through agriculture."Read More »

Gary Hinkson, Secretary/Treasurer

Gary’s Reason for Involvement in H4H : “My decision to become involved with the H4H Foundation was based on the foundation’s core purpose – to support the development of the Haitian population through a process of self-sustainable projects and education. These include demonstration farming, using drip irrigation techniques, multiple crop management and natural fertilization techniques. Having people take ownership of their own development and labor, and in the process, reap the benefits from their own Haitian agriculture economy, is a fantastic cause to support.” Read More »

Lynn Kampfer, Board Member

Lynn’s Reason for Involvement in H4H : “Food is a basic need of every human being. This self-sustaining farming project not only provides food for the community, but also provides education, leadership, and business skills, providing better opportunities for food to be sold to retailers at the marketplace. All of those skills result in empowerment for the men, women and children involved. I am involved in this project because I support this holistic approach as well as the high level of competence and passion of its leaders.” Read More »

Ray Pohlman, Board Member

Ray’s reason for involvement with H4H: “I got involved for two reasons. The first reason is the idea of helping people in another country learn to plant, produce, sell and survive as a result of my input and participation on a board many miles away was intriguing.  Second, because Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, ‘As you did it for the least of these you have done for me.’  When you help those in need that are down and out it is as if we did it for Him.  I want to please and serve my savior, Jesus.” Read More »

Jo Hartman, Board Member

Jo’s Reasons for Involvement in H4H: “I met Ady and Frantz on my first trip to Haiti.  They were in their final year at American University of the Caribbean and were interpreters for our medical mission group.  Ady and Frantz impressed me so much with their work ethic, their knowledge of the land and their understanding of the complicated political circumstances that affected small farmers in Haiti.  Read More »
