Kathy’s reasons for Involvement in H4H:
“In 2008, I went on a mission trip to Haiti.  There I met two young men who were in their final year of college, Frantz Dorcel Ady (known as Ady), and Frantz Girodier.  Apart from the obvious poverty, the one thing that haunted me was their answer to my question, “What will you do with your degrees when you graduate?” They both answered, “Nothing, there are no jobs available for us when we graduate.” This seemed unbelievable to me, as I could see how valuable both of their degrees (Ady was an Environmental Studies major and Frantz was studying Agronomy) would be in helping Haiti out of its dire condition.  Since our first introduction, I have watched Ady advance to higher educational opportunities, always with one focus - to help his country.  Ady instilled a desire in me to help make a difference, and thus it became a goal of mine to find a way for Haitians to help themselves through agriculture and education.  With much prayer, I began the process of forming a board, dedicated to help self-sustaining efforts in Haiti. Once the board members were established, we were on the road to make change happen in this beautiful, but poverty-stricken country.
